For on/off control, see Electric waterpump control (on/off).
For PWM control of higher load using a PWm module, see PWM CAN Module.
(this output function can also be used with other external electronics which uses PWM to control FANs, pumps etc).
6 degrees before the set operating temperature the output is constantly on at 40% duty cycle, ramped up to 100% duty cycle at the set temperature.
Waterpump control
Target temperature
Specifies the target and desired coolant temperature (CLT).
Control band
If CLT changes is within the control dead band value, the output PWM duty is not changed.
PWM output type
•Regular PWM - Just PWM duty.
•Pierburg CWA400 - Sends startup pulses and adjusts the PWM range for these pumps. Used with 12V driving outputs (not external pullup needed).
•Pierburg CWA400 inverted - Sends startup pulses and adjusts the PWM range for these pumps. Used with regular low driving outputs with an external pullup resistor.
•BSD-bus control - See BSD Protocol input.
Note: the ECU GPO 8/TACH output is confirmed to work.
PWM frequency
Specifies the output frequency.
MIN PWM duty
The min PWM duty used in normal operation. Make sure this duty is high enough to circulate some coolant to avoid hot spots.
MAX PWM duty
The max PWM duty used, used as a limiter to prevent a too-high PWM pulse.
Warmup
warmup method
•On/Off - Pulses the pump at the Warmup Duty to prevent hot spots.
•Constant duty - Uses the Warmup Duty until the engine is within 10C of the desired operating temperature.
Warmup PWM duty
Used until the engine is within 10C of the desired operating temperature. Make sure this duty is high enough to circulate some coolant to avoid hot spots.
Note: There is a 300 second warmup timeout, when passed the control id disabled.
off below CLT
Turns the output off if the coolant temperature is below the threshold. Can be used to prevent pump damage due to freezing.
off below CLT, not running
Turns the output off if the coolant temperature is below the threshold when the engine is running.
